Enabling download resumption in Google Chrome
It's fairly common to get 'Network Error' or 'Network Failure' while downloading a large file in Google Chrome. Chrome, by default doesn't support download resumption. However, if you want to enable this feature, the team at Google Chrome have neatly concealed this option under the chrome://flags chest.
According to sites.google.com: "Flags or chrome://flags is a url in Chrome that allows you to try new features in Chrome while they are being tested or are generally unstable. You can enable them as you want."
To enable the download resumption feature:
- Type in chrome://flags in the chrome address bar. Look for the text 'Enable Download Resumption' (you may use Ctrl + F to achieve this). Alternatively, type in chrome://flags/#enable-download-resumption in the chrome address bar. Note that the chrome team may integrate this feature in the upcoming releases of their browser, so you may not find it at all on the flags page.
- Click on the enable link.
- Relaunch Chrome.
